Proving that “Duval’s Got Talent”, TRIBUTE TO BLACK MUSIC: I LOVE MUSIC stars Alphonso Horne, Jr., Trumpeter, a graduate of both LaVilla & Douglas Anderson Schools of the Arts. He is a Juilliard Graduate and Multi-GRAMMY Award nominee. Alphonso Horne is described by New York Times as a “devastating trumpet-er” that thrills audiences with his soulful sound and dramatic sensibility. Horne’s Featured Guest Artist is Allana Southerland Prince, Saxophonist, also a graduate of Douglas Anderson and the University of North Florida. "I am most proud that over 20 years I have had the pleasure of performing with Be-yonce, Fantasia, Charlie Wilson, Herbie Hancock, Paul Jackson Jr, and many more! The journey has not been easy. Sometimes I am turned down due to being female or African American. But I have learned to not let a “no” stop me from reaching my goals." Alphonso Jr. also appeared in the 1999 TRIBUTE show. TRIBUTE is presented by W. Harvey Williams, owner of ENTER-TECH Communications (ETC), who produces, directs, coordinates and markets live musical stage productions. He produces shows under the ETC and "because...WE LOVE YOU" logos. TRIBUTE TO BLACK MUSIC returning veteran musicians include ALPHONSO "BUBBA" HORNE, SR., (Star Per-former, Alphonso, Jr.’s, father) on trumpet, keyboards and vocals with over 40 years of musical experience. Alphonso serves as Music Director/Coordinator for most ETC musical productions. He is the "Godfather" of many aspiring and veteran musicians in Northeast Florida. ALPHONSO "BUBBA" HORNE, SR. Keyboards / Piano/ This is Bubba's first performance after having a heart transplant. He worked at Pro Music for 25 years as Brass Wind Tech Went to William M. Raines Class of '67 Alphonso "Bubba" Horne, Sr. on keyboards and vocals, has over 25 years of musical experience. He performed with such notables as the Ohio Players, Billy Paul, Melba Moore and Clarence Carter. Bubba leads Island Mood band, offering a twist of calypso, R & B, jazz and reggae. The group features flexibility from a duo to seven musicians. However, Bubba often performs as a single. He is the "Godfather" of many aspiring and veteran musicians in Northeast Florida.Bubba will also lead the house band, called Senior Moments Last Stand Band, offering a twist of calypso, R & B, jazz and reggae with veteran entertainers, featuring Island Mood band members and TRIBUTE performers: Dusty Barber, guitarist and Stevie Fingers Saracson, keys. Dusty is a Musician - instruments • Guitar, Vocals, Ukulele and Singing Bowls. He works with the Rev. Al Green, The Drifters (Billy Cisco) and others. He is also a Singer, Songwriter, Producer and Music Minister. Dusty Barber plays all types of guitars and has performed for 28 years, 15 years locally. He recently returned from a USO tour in Korea. Stevie "Fingers" is from Cleveland, Ohio, and started studying music at age eight. Moved with his family to Jacksonville, Florida after high school and got his degree in Music Composition and Theory at Jacksonville University. A professional keyboard/vocal entertainer since age 14, he has performed with many artists including Teddy Washington, Harvey Williams, The Drifters and Little Anthony worldwide. Barry Olsavsky is a 1985 graduate of the University of North Florida with a bachelor's degree in percussion performance. Barry worked with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra for 20 years as a section percussionist which included performances in Carnegie Hall, as well as touring performances around the US. Barry is Executive Director of CST Entertainment Productions LLC, the parent company of Caribbean Sound, Steel Bamboo, The Conch Fritters, Tropico Steel Drums and CST School of Percussion. Barry is the Percussion Instructor at Freedom Crossing Academy in St Johns County. He was a resident entertainer on Norwegian Cruise Lines as well as American Cruise Lines and Pearl Seas Cruises from 1992 to 2023. Now he enjoys teaching Piano and Voice at Florida Music Academy as well as performing freelance as a soloist or side man in several bands in Florida. Stage Aurora Theatrical Company will open the show with the song "Lift Every Voice and Sing" performed by Stage Aurora's 100 Youth Voices. We are honoring exceptional Jacksonville talent, such as Lawrence Walden, Vocalist, Sculptor and Musician; the late Ken Wilburn, Ken was a Trombonist, Jacksonville Symphonic Orchestra and Tenor, St. Johns' Cathedral, and the late renowned Teddy Washington, Orchestra Leader Extraordinaire and Trumpeter for Mr. James Brown.
