Archaeology Day
The Beaches Museum’s International Archaeology Day celebration will feature fun for the whole family.
Sensory sand bins with “artifacts” to find will delight the youngest aspiring archeologists, while older kids can chip away at our simulated dig site to excavate and investigate the past.
Real archeologists will be tabling at the event to share their knowledge and experience.
Archaeological Institute of America - Jacksonville Society is presenting a lecture by Dr. Adam King from the University of South Carolina. The lecture is titled “The Rise of Etowah: Creating Community, Place, and Identity.” Etowah is a mound site in northwest Georgia. The lecture is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be served afterwards in front of the chapel.
