Mount Auburn Church will host its seventh annual Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, located at 3100 W. Stones Crossing Rd. in Greenwood
The free community event gives children the opportunity to explore vehicles and equipment used by first responders, construction crews, farmers and other community organizations. Touch-a-Truck has attracted more than 2,500 attendees in previous years.
Admission, food and drinks are free. Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food donation for the Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County and Lord’s Locker in Trafalgar. Donations will help provide food for local families in need.
“Touch-a-Truck gives children an opportunity to explore vehicles they see throughout the community while bringing families, first responders, local organizations and neighbors together,” said Phil Howard, organizer of the event. “It is also an opportunity to support two organizations that provide food to families throughout Johnson County.”
A quiet hour will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. to provide a lower-sensory experience for guests who prefer a quieter environment.
Children attending the event will receive a plastic hard hat and can participate in a scavenger hunt to earn a special Touch-a-Truck T-shirt. Families can explore public safety vehicles, construction vehicles, farm equipment, remote-controlled airplanes and antique engines.
A military helicopter is also scheduled to appear.
Additional activities will include face painting, snow cones provided by the Boy Scouts and a Pinewood Derby track hosted by the Cub Scouts.
No registration is required. Families may arrive at any time during the event.
