Stride for Freedom: A Journey of Advocacy with Andrew Linder

LaserPrecision Marksmanship Club is honored to host and show our support to Andrew Linder as his run across America comes through downtown Indianapolis. Andrew, a 27-year-old law enforcement officer from Washington DC, is running 3,100 miles across the country from the Santa Monica Pier in California to Central Park in New York City, all while wearing a 15lb weighted vest to raise awareness about human trafficking and funds to combat it. Mike Wilson, the CEO of LaserPrecision, met Andrew earlier this year at an event raising money to fight sex trafficking and learned of his run. Mike’s sister was trafficked as a teenager and understands the life-long damage its victims endure. This event is being held in support of Linder’s run across the US. Join us to show your support as we work to fight the ugliest crime against humanity’s most vulnerable citizens. 800K people are trafficked each year. Only 1% are ever rescued. "Raising awareness for human trafficking that's my why. That's why I'm out here," said Linder. "I just want people to realize that it happens a lot more often than they might think. It happens in every single zip code in America. Doesn't matter if you're rich, it doesn't matter if you're poor. This happens all over the place," said Linder. Agenda Overview: Andrew and his team typically run roughly 42 miles each day. Andrew should be just inside or outside of the Indianapolis zip code area at the end of Tuesday, April 23rd. Wednesday he will start running near the Indianapolis airport and head towards downtown Indy. LaserPrecision Marksmanship Club is located in the Circle City Industrial Complex (CCIC), one block east of the Bottleworks District. We are planning on honoring Andrew and his team in the parking lot of CCIC. Come join us to show your support for Andrew and meet this amazing young man. Andrew had never run more than a mile before this cross-country journey and just started training a little over a year ago. He will be the first person ever to run across the country while wearing a weighted vest. Background Information: The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that over 24.9 million individuals are trapped in forced labor and forced sexual exploitation. 800K people are trafficked each year. Only 8,000 are ever rescued globally. Traffickers prey on vulnerable individuals, seeking better prospects and often luring them with false promises of employment, education, or a better life. Once ensnared, victims face harsh working conditions and physical and psychological abuse and are forced into exploitative situations.
