Installation of Rev. Dr. Carla Cheatham as Pastor of Faith Church, UCC—reception after, all welcome
Following the retirement of Rev. Scott Martin December 2020, after his 15 years of ministry, we at Faith Church, UCC called Rev. Dr. Carla Cheatham as our interim pastor.
After an extensive Search and Call process to discern whom God had prepared to be our next settled pastor, we officially called Rev. Cheatham and she accepted.
We will Install her on Dec 11th at 3pm with a brief ceremony followed by a reception. All are invited to come meet our new pastor and learn more about the future ministry of Faith Church as we seek a just world for all.
Rev. Cheatham has an MA in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University, a Masters of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at SMU, a PhD in Health and Kinesiology from Texas AandM, and certification in trauma therapy.
She worked for years in social services, healthcare, and hospice before starting her own business as a national keynote speaker, trainer, consultant, coach, and author.
A native Texan, she is an avid hiker, mountain biker, reader, and dancer who enjoys dog rescue, live music, 42 Dominoes, and Texas Hold’em.
She is passionate about issues of peace and justice for all God’s kids and all God’s creation and shares Faith Church’s ethic of ecumenical and interfaith partnership to care for those experiencing housing and/or food insecurity.
She has been active in the New Braunfels Homeless Coalition, Serve Spot, and Family Promise and looks forward to learning more about the needs of the community and how she and Faith Church can work with others to help meet those needs.
As an Open and Affirming congregation, we also strive to create safe space for all LGBTQIA+ persons and their loved ones and allies. Rev. Cheatham embodies that sense of safety and welcome for all, even those who may disagree with us.
Her favorite scripture, which she seeks to live daily, is Micah 6:8–“And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God”
Come prepared to be warmly welcomed, accepted as you are, and feel free to dress casually...our new pastor is fond of preaching in jeans, clergy collar, mohawk, and Chucks!!
