Award-winning singer-songwriter, pianist, and Righteous Babe Records recording artist Lilli Lewis returns to Texas this August for two intimate performances marking the beginning of a remarkable new creative season.
Longtime East Texas audiences may remember Lewis from the years she spent performing regularly in Lufkin with her former band, including appearances hosted by Standpipe Coffeehouse. More than a decade later, she returns with new songs, newly published writing, and a renewed focus on her own artistic work after years devoted to building community for others. A recipient of Folk Alliance International's Spirit of Folk Award, Lewis has spent much of the past several years creating opportunities for fellow artists while quietly developing the work that would become her next chapter.
Her Texas appearances also coincide with the release of her first chapbook series, offering audiences a glimpse of the writer who has long lived quietly between the songs. This September, Lewis will enter the studio to begin recording Human Right Now, her first full-length album since being diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in 2023.
On Saturday, August 22, Lewis makes her Anderson Fair debut alongside acclaimed Louisiana songwriter Gina Forsyth. Friends, colleagues, and musical collaborators for more than a decade, the two will share the stage for their first-ever co-billed performance, bringing together two distinctive Louisiana songwriting voices in one of Texas's most beloved listening rooms.
Known for concerts that blend masterful musicianship, storytelling, humor, and deep emotional connection, Lewis creates performances that invite audiences to do more than simply listen—they invite people to belong.
As Lewis says, "Songs aren't finished until they're shared."
