FRIENDS OF MERCER BOTANIC GARDENS HOSTS ANNUAL MARCH MART PLANT SALE IN HUMBLE MARCH 24 & 25

Friends of Mercer Botanic Gardens (FMBG) is hosting its 2023 March Mart outdoor plant sale benefitting Mercer Botanic Gardens in Humble on March 24-25. FMBG is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization that has supported the Gardens’ special projects and educational programs since 2000. Mercer Botanic Gardens offers free admission and free parking to all. The March Mart sale is Mercer Botanic Gardens’ largest plant sale of the year, featuring nearly 1,200 varieties of high-quality plants rarely found at local retail nurseries. Many of the sale plants were grown in the Gardens’ greenhouses by experienced staff and volunteers, enabling them to be adaptable to the unique soils and weather conditions in the Gulf Coast region. “Our annual March Mart plant sale helps fund Houston’s only free botanic garden and provides a fun opportunity for gardeners to come stroll the grounds,” said FMBG board president, Doug Gleason. “Many people don’t realize Mercer Botanic Gardens has been the site of gorgeous special event photos, fun family activities, gardening club field trips, corporate service days and free master gardener advice for 50 years.” Everyone is invited to shop March Mart from 8am to 4pm on both Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25. Only FMBG members may complete their purchases before 10am on Friday. Non-member purchasing starts at 10am on Friday. On Saturday, March 25, everyone may purchase March Mart plants starting at 8am until inventory is sold out. Anyone purchasing a new FMBG membership or renewing an existing FMBG membership before March 15 will be entered in a raffle for March Mart plant credits ranging from $25-$100 in value. Those who become FMBG members at the Supporter level ($125) or higher will also get the opportunity to shop an entire day early at March Mart. Mercer Botanic Gardens is seeking hundreds of March Mart volunteers to prepare for this sale.
