The open-water diver certification course consists of three phases: classroom and home study to learn scuba basics, confined water dives to exercise scuba basics, and open-water dives to review skills and explore. Enrollment includes the rental of BCD, regulator set, dive computer, tanks and any neoprene that may be needed. If they meet the skill requirements, students swim away as PADI-certified scuba divers.
Gigglin’ Marlin Divers’ instructors guide students through the Discover Scuba Diving course from the safe depths of an indoor heated saltwater pool. A brief video or flip chart introduces divers to necessary techniques before they learn firsthand about buoyancy control, breathing underwater, and the funny faces that best benefit from wearing a swim mask. Alternatively, students can sign up for a free-diving course, comprising a two-day clinic with equipment included.
