What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Green Your Green is a brand-new start up project with a dream of seeing empowerment of individuals, families, and communities. We believe in the power of a real, grown food movement. Our beds are built from 100% repurposed materials. Best soil in Houston in partnership with Last Organic Outpost.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
We are happy to share all of the resources available to us, including seed library, friends who garden, and farmers who love to teach us what they know. Books, recipes, videos, and most importantly, veggie-filled potlucks, available as appropriate.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
G.Y.G. is a response to the crisis of food insecurity, especially as it affects neighborhoods continuing to exist within food deserts. We seek to sustainably empower communities of people through accessible nourishment, didactic participation in the future of urban, New American food systems.
What do you love most about your job?
While still in our infancy, we love the chance to advocate & get the word out to anyone who will let us wax poetic on our food, savings, health, learning, and gardening love. There’s nothing like getting a picture of a row of spinach two months after a gardening novice’s bed installation.
