Research has shown that underage drinking increases during Labor Day weekend (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMHSA]) because of availability, accessibility, and celebrating the end of summer.
Join Community Works in 96744 (CWC 96744), an underage drinking prevention coalition with Parents And Children Together (PACT) at their Celebrate Safe Labor Day sign waving event to remind our community that if youth are under 21, ‘a‘ole (no) alcohol.
This community event will be on Friday, September 4th at the corner of Kamehameha Highway and Haiku Road by the Windward Mall bus stop by the malasada truck.
Youth who are grade 12 or younger will receive 2 hours of community service. Documentation of volunteer hours will be provided. If the school has required paperwork, have the youth bring it with them and we will fill it out.
Youth under 18 will need to be with an adult to participate.
Please see flyer for details and more information.
