Join the master of Shakuhachi, Marco Lienhard, for a workshop on Bamboo flutes- with short
presentation on the history and background of Japanese bamboo flutes. Learn about the Shinobue,
Shakuhachi, and Noh flutes, understanding the differences in structure, sound and technique.
Following the presentation, there will be a workshop on the Shakuhachi and Fue with
Marco’s guidance. Some flutes will be available for use.
Marco Lienhard lived and performed in Japan for 18 years (1981-1998) as a member of the legendary Taiko group

soloist for the NYC Opera’s premiere of the Opera ''Kinkakuji'' and was a soloist with the Juilliard New Music
Ensemble. He performs and teaches internationally (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Italy, Switzerland and Canada, etc.).
He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall, Osaka Festival Hall, Madison Square Garden, Tchaikovsky Hall and
