King David Kalākaua, known as the “Merrie Monarch,” was a passionate leader who worked to preserve and promote Hawaiian culture, hula, and music. He is remembered for his dedication to Hawaiian traditions, the restoration of ʻIolani Palace, and his efforts to connect Hawai‘i with the global community.
In honor of his birthday, Waimea Valley is offering kamaʻāina FREE admission to Waimea Valley as a mahalo for his enduring legacy and contributions to Hawai‘i’s history and culture.
