Prime Martial Arts Grand Opening
Prime Martial Arts, the Kailua studio started by former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter and Tae Kwon Do Master Martin Day, is expanding with the opening of a second location in Hawai‘i Kai. The new studio extends Prime’s mission to deliver quality martial arts instruction and life-skills development to communities across O‘ahu. Prime Martial Arts offers classes in Tae Kwon Do, kickboxing and tricking for students of all ages and experience levels—from brand-new beginners to competitive athletes. The studio is known for pairing rigorous martial arts training with the development of core values such as respect, discipline, confidence and humility. Prime Martial Arts Hawai‘i Kai is located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center, taking over the space formerly occupied by Cho’s Tae Kwon Do Center. Prime M.A. Hawai‘i Kai will be led by Day along with Zach Rigdon, a third Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do who has trained with Day since he was age five. Rigdon specializes in tricking, which mixes traditional martial arts, gymnastics and break dancing. Together, Day and Rigdon bring decades of combined experience and a commitment to providing thoughtful, individualized instruction to every student. Day, a fifth Dan Black Belt and Master in Tae Kwon Do, competed professionally in the UFC Bantamweight division. He launched Prime Martial Arts in Kailua in 2024 following the closure of the longtime Martial Arts Company (MAC), where he trained and taught for many years.
To celebrate the opening of the Hawai‘i Kai studio, Prime M.A. will host a grand opening celebration with free classes, live demonstrations, music, food, giveaways and special membership offers. The event is free and open to the public.
