Koboji Bon Dance
Celebrate at the 2024 Koboji Shingon Mission Bon Dance!
Join us for a cherished community event at the 2024 Koboji Shingon Mission Bon Dance, happening on July 12 and 13 from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. This annual celebration features vibrant performances by Hawaii Eisa Shinyuu Kai and Ryugen Taiko, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of music and dance.
Each night kicks off with a yagura service at 6:30 PM, where community members offer incense while monks chant.
Don’t miss out on our famous food booths! Savor local favorites like the "local boy stew" and chili, both steeped in tradition and nostalgia. The chili, unchanged for over 50 years, and the "local boy stew" offer a rare taste of old Kalihi. These dishes sell out fast, so we’re tripling our food preparation this year to meet the high demand. Other delicious options include garlic chicken plates, teri hamburger plates, yakisoba, and more.
Public parking is available at Damien Memorial School.
