The American Society of Plant Biologists' annual Plant Biology conference is taking place in Honolulu this year, and along with it, scientist volunteers join the community to engage children and families in learning about plants and plant life at the dynamic and FREE Plant Science Saturday!
In partnership with the Hawai'i Farm Bureau, this year's Plant Science Saturday will take place at the KCC Farmers Market (Parking Lot C). Through activities led by plant scientists, participants will:
-Build a seed cup necklace while learning about what plants need to grow!
-Dissect a hydrated lima bean while learning how to identify the different hidden parts of a plant
-Learn about plants in space with showcases of actual growth experiments, equipment, and more
-Select their farmers market produce with a token from Plant Science Saturday, learning about healthy choices and the importance of plants for food sustainability
Bring your family to experience something new at Plant Science Saturday!
**Please note: This is not a drop-off event. Children must have adult supervision at all times.
