BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO, called "the new standard in electric-jazz" by National Public Radio (NPR), New York, is an award-winning electric-jazz trio, extrapolating the electrified jazz ideologies of Miles Davis & Randy Brecker. Colliding Black American Music forms (hip-hop, R'n'B, soul, funk) with virtuosic jazz performance skills -- all steeped in a deep knowledge of the jazz lineage -- this raw, exploratory trio is considered one of the top-tier electric-jazz bands in North American jazz today. They are the winners of a 2007 National Jazz Award for “Electric Jazz Group of the Year”; 3x Toronto Independent Music Award winner (2013, 2015, 2016), a 2014 International Independent Music Award winner for "Jazz-funk album of the year", a 2017 NOW Magazine "Artist of the Year" award and a 2023 Black IMPACT Award.

The trio is led by 2x National Jazz Award winning trumpet player iconoclast Brownman Ali, heralded as "Canada's preeminent jazz trumpet player" by the New York Village Voice, and known internationally as the last soloist for the legendary NYC jazz hip-hop outfit Guru’s Jazzmatazz (where he replaced the great Donald Byrd).
