BROWNMAN AKOUSTIC TRIO + 1 (Hawaii Edition) -- Brooklyn, NY electric-jazz @ Honolulu Beerworks, 7pm
Internationally acclaimed Brooklyn/Toronto based jazz trumpet player BROWNMAN ALI returns to Hawaii as a Visiting Artist, to dazzle audiences with the Hawaii Edition of the BROWNMAN AKOUSTIC TRIO with special guest, local tenor sax icon REGGIE PADILLA delivering hard swinging Blue Note era jazz from the 50's through to the 80's. This special permutation of BAT is rounded out with 2 of Hawaii's most revered and in demand jazz musicians: Mark Tanouye on electric bass, and Darryl Pellegrini on drums. Not to be missed!!! The trio is led by 2x National Jazz Award winning trumpet player iconoclast Brownman Ali, heralded as "Canada's preeminent jazz trumpet player" by the New York Village Voice, and known internationally as the last soloist for the legendary NYC jazz hip-hop outfit Guru’s Jazzmatazz (where he replaced the great Donald Byrd).
