TAU DANCE THEATRE PRESENTS: IllumiNative 2023

World Premiere
(Honolulu, Hawaii) Tau Dance Theater proudly presents its newest production, “IllumiNative 2023”, on December 12, 2023 at the Historic Hawaii Theatre. Special Guest Artist, James Pakootas will be featured. “Just Jamez”, is a modern-day story weaver, an influential, multi-award winning artist, producer, and filmmaker who cultivates change in the world through the power of words.
Tau Dance Theatre Artistic Director, Peter Rockford Espiritu, will unveil four 'World Premiere' works honoring the Goddess Pele, his father’s ancestral island home of Maui, his Pacific Island roots of Samoa and Oceania and an epic Pōhuli creation to the DISTURBED version of 'The Sound of Silence'!

About Tau Dance Theatre: Hawaii’s only professional dance company founded by a native Hawaiian based in Honolulu. Established in 1996 by Artistic Director Peter Rockford Espiritu, TDT has produced original epic works to critical acclaim. In 2009 Poli’ahu: Goddess of Maunakea toured statewide and was featured at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. In 2004 Hanau Ka Moku: An Island is Born toured statewide and with its final bow at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at the University of California, Davis. In 1996 NAUPAKA: A Hawaiian Opera was mentioned in the New York Times and is listed in the Encyclopedia of Hawaiian Music & Musicians II.
