EC-CHAP Film Series: The Rare Films of Jimi Hendrix (part 1) Doors open 6:30pm | Showing: 7pm - 9pm Suggested Donation: $5 A collaboration between the Eastern Connecticut Center for History, Art, and Performance (EC-CHAP) nonprofit organization and WECS, 90.1FM DJ, Arthur Rovozzo covering the life and accomplishments of Rock Legend Jimi Hendrix. As Arthur describes:" The general audience is pretty familiar with the two most celebrated and widely-seen film appearances of the iconoclastic guitarist and sonic innovator Hendrix: his classic, now-legendary performances at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and at Woodstock in 1969. Yet fewer people are aware that other films featuring Jimi are out there waiting to be discovered. There is an alternate version of the Woodstock event, shot from a totally different point-of-view than the official documentary, and in black and white, for instance! Apart from that example, there were Hendrix talk show and television appearances (with his trio) in England, Europe and the USA, promotional film clips, informal filmings, excerpts of concert performances both audience-shot and professionally made. At The Packing House, we are planning to blend a selection of the above together on two nights. We also intend to have a raffle for Hendrix media items (with vintage LPs, brand-new vinyl, CDs and books such as the sumptuous birthday-anniversary volume created by Jimi’s family and published last year).” Join us for the screening of rare footage of this musical legend!
