The March 21st show of The Packing House Poetry Series will feature Sarah St. George and Katie Elizabeth. The show’s format will consist of two open mic segments as well as a pair of 15-minute slots for each of the featured artists. Intermission will give audience and poet the chance to meet one another and the opportunity to purchase signed publications. The open-mic segments will provide the opportunity for audience members to read their own original work. We are planning to allow for two half-hour sessions, one at the beginning of the event, and the other at the end. Readers will be given up to five minutes to present.
Sarah St. George is a uniquely talented poet, possessing an incisive, often devastatingly descriptive mind. She brings her life stories to the podium, and speaks what needs to be heard. Sarah hosts the Sawdust Poetry Group that meets in Putnam on the first Thursdays of every month.
Katie Elizabeth is a senior editor for an ed-tech company. Her first poem was published at the age of thirteen. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Connecticut, a guest speaker for her town’s Out of the Darkness Walk, and taught at the True Colors Conference. Katie has been interviewed for Kaiser Health News and The Way We Roll Podcast. She is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and Disability Coalition for the 2020 election. Katie is controlled by three cats, one coffee maker, and infinite hair dye.
This program is hosted by the "Eastern Connecticut Center for History, Art, and Performance" (EC-CHAP) and Steve Veilleux.
Soft drinks and snacks available. We are pleased to offer our exclusive "BYOB&F" model - Bring Your Own Beverage & Food TM (Wine & Beer Only - I.D. Required). For more information, please call 518-791-9474.
