FREDERICK-DOUGLASS KNOWLES II and A CURBSTONE CELEBRATION: Thursday June 27 6:30 p.m. Frederick-Douglass Knowles II will perform his original poetry and help the Curbstone Foundation celebrate the legacy of Curbstone Press legends James Scully, Jack Agüeros, Judy Doyle, Paul Von Drasek, Steve Walsh, Maria Proser, and Jane Blanchard.
Educator, poet, and literary activist Frederick-Douglass Knowles II is a professor of English at Three Rivers Community College in his native city of Norwich and Poet Laureate Emeritus of the city of Hartford, Connecticut. Knowles was the 2020 Connecticut of The Arts Fellow in Artist Excellence for Poetry/Creative Nonfiction and a recipient of the 2019 Nutmeg Poetry Award. Known for his dynamic and moving readings, he is a Pushcart Prize nominee and the author of BlackRoseCity.
Poetry in the Park is a project of the Curbstone Foundation. Readings are free and held on the fourth Thursday of the month, June through September. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
