SWCA Presents Balourdet String Quartet in Concert March 19th
On Sunday, March 19, 2023, South Windsor Cultural Arts will feature the Balourdet String Quartet in concert. The quartet received the Grand Prize at the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition and Gold Medals at the 2020 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the 2021 Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition, as well as prizes in the Banff, Paolo Borciani and Carl Nielsen international competitions. Based in Boston, MA, the quartet is currently in residence at the New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program and performs in festivals and series in the U.S. and around the world.
The program will include Hugo Wolf’s “Italian Serenade”, Mendelssohn’s “String Quartet No. 4 in E minor”, Op. 44, No. 2, and Beethoven’s “String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat Major”, Op. 130 with the “Grosse Fuge”, Op. 133 as the final movement.
The concert starts at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Crossings Retirement Community, 900 Hemlock Ave, South Windsor, CT. Seating begins at 1:30 and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The concert is FREE and donations are welcomed. A reception with the artists will follow the concert hosted by Evergreen Crossings Retirement Community.
