Did you know that paint pigments were first made from rocks and minerals? Explore a range of popular minerals that were traditionally used in art-making, then mix your own watercolor by grinding rocks and mixing with binders.

Explore all three levels of the mural gallery and discover special features of the indoor mural with our rock-and-mineral themed Scavenger Hunt.
Crystal Break Out
Learn how geodes form and why rock hounds love to find them. Then break open one of your own and see what’s inside. (While supplies last!)
Art Station Is Open!
Get creative with the materials and project starters at the Open Art activity table. You can even try out that watercolor paint you made!
