This summer, will three weekends in a Fire Island share house be enough time for Maggie Monroe to fix her life, find love, and make sure she doesn’t lose her friends for good? With the nostalgic flavor of a stack of sepia-toned Polaroids, and perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Jennifer Weiner, and Ann Brashares, Serendipity (Chalsen) is a big-hearted, page-turning story that delves deep into a complicated friend group as they navigate one messy yet magical mid-twenties summer.
Three generations of Schmidts have run their family’s beachfront restaurant and Jack has been at the helm since the death of his father. When he receives startling news from the past, Jack begins to reshape his life and forge unexpected new friendships. But will he really let go of the very things that have defined him? The Same Bright Stars (Joella) is an uplifting and emotionally resonant novel set in a Delaware beach town about a local restaurant owner at a turning point.
Becky Chalsen is a writer and film/TV development executive. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and now lives in New York City. Her debut novel Kismet was published by Dutton in 2023. Serendipity is her second novel.
Ethan Joella teaches English and psychology at the University of Delaware. He is the author of A Little Hope, which was a Read with Jenna Bonus Selection, A Quiet Life, and The Same Bright Stars. He lives in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, with his wife and two daughters.
