Eagles Fly for Leukemia was founded in 1972 by former Eagles tight-end Fred Hill, his teammates and Eagles former owner Leonard Tose, after Fred's daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. The annual gala is a night of cocktails, dinner and dancing to raise funds for cancer research. The proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the Tom Brookshier Research Center at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This year will also feature the presentation of the first annual "Brookie Award"? to Governor Ed Rendell by legendary former Eagles coach Dick Vermeil. The Brookie Award is in honor of Tom Brookshier, affectionately known as Brookie. An all-pro Eagles corner-back, Brookshier passed away in January 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sponsorships, tickets and more information can be found on the website.
