Falmouth Forest Garden and Conoy Wetlands Guided Nature Hike
The Falmouth Forest Garden is a demonstration of regenerative agroforestry techniques that have been utilized by various groups around the world for centuries or more. It is believed to be the first forest garden established on publicly accessible lands in Pennsylvania. It serves to enhance wildlife habitat as well as the experience for visitors of the popular Northwest River Trail.
Participants will leave the forest garden and visit the Conoy Wetlands, to learn about the value of wetlands to wildlife and the challenges they face.
This is event is a part of Horn Farm Center's Wild & Uncommon Weekend
What to Expect: This approximately 3-mile hike will start with an easy, quarter-mile walk on the paved Northwest River Trail. Once at the Falmouth Forest Garden, participants may choose to meander the grassy trails that lead through the 5-acre area (or stay on the paved trail) before contuing on to the Conoy Wetlands via the Northwest River Trail. The group will return to the parking area via the Northwest River Trail. There is a port-a-john available at the parking lot.
Where to Meet: We will meet at the Northwest River Trail trailhead in the south corner of the Falmouth Boat Launch parking lot.
What to Bring: Bring water, snacks, pertinent personal first aid, and appropriate clothing.
Animal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home.
Refund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event.
Cancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. If the Conservancy cancels the event, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded.
