Chess at Three tells stories that transform the chess pieces into a memorable cast of quirky characters that help children understand and play chess.
Every lesson is based on a story that introduces children to the fundamentals of chess from piece mechanics, to basic strategy, all the way through the endgame and checkmate.
Early learners will focus on piece mechanics and basic strategy. Through stories and exercises, we learn how all of the pieces move, their relationship to one another, and introduce the idea of capturing an opposing piece.
We also begin learning about thinking before we move and having a "chess-ready" mind and body, i.e. how to concentrate, take turns, and behave during a game of chess.
