A Violinist’s Grand Tour
Baroque chamber music on period instruments
Travel across 17th-century Europe with baroque violinist Phoebe Gelzer-Govatos, cellist and gambist Jamie Gallupe, and harpsichordist Justin Wallace. The program goes from Italy to France, Germany and Austria, with violin sonatas by Isabella Leonarda, Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, Georg Muffat and Johann Jakob Walther, and a trio sonata by Dieterich Buxtehude. It ends with Arcangelo Corelli’s virtuosic “La Follia.” All three players are well-known Michigan early-music musicians who have performed at festivals across the country and abroad.
This is a unique opportunity to hear music on instruments from this period. We hope you will join us. As always, the concerts are free of charge and open to the public.
