Free@3 Presents: Letitia Jap - David Yandl - David Keep: viollin-clarinet-piano trio


In a varied program featuring composers from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, Letitia Jap, David Yandl, and David Keep will perform a varied program of works by Shostakovich, Fuchs, Poulenc, Brahms, DeBeriot and finish off with a stunning piano trio by Khatchaturian. Letitia Jap was Head Chamber Ensemble Coach and Violin Instructor at the University of Rochester, faculty at the Eastman Community Music School, and was Music History Lecturer at Nazareth College. She is currently Affiliate Faculty of Violin at Grand Valley State University. Letitia received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin, her Master of Music from the New England Conservatory, and her Doctor of Musical Arts at the Eastman School of Music. David Yandl is currently Head of Winds, Brass, and Percussion at Hope College. Past appointments include faculty positions at DePaul University, Michigan State University, Alma College, and Cornerstone University. A passionate advocate for music as an agent of social change, David has taught in tuition-free programs for underserved urban youth in Chicago including Project S.O.A.R. and El Sistema-affiliate Y.O.U.R.S. He frequently performs with the Grand Rapids Symphony. David holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from DePaul University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Michigan State University. David Keep has been at Hope since 2020, where he specializes in teaching piano and music theory. He has performed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia as a recitalist and chamber musician, and regularly adjudicates competitions and gives masterclasses. Dr. Keep performs and teaches a wide variety of repertoire but has a special interest in the music of Johannes Brahms. Dr. Keep was educated at the Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester), the Jacobs School of Music (Indiana University), Lawrence University, and the Interlochen Arts Academy.
