OVERVIEW The Hazardous Materials Regulations of the USDOT require initial and recurring training for a “HazMat Employee”. It is the responsibility of the “HazMat Employer” to identify their HazMat Employees and then to provide and document the required training.
WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND
If you or your company are in any way involved in the loading, unloading, or transportation, or the preparation for transportation of a hazardous material (e.g. paint, adhesives, resins, acid or base, batteries, &etc.) you must provide initial and triennial (every three years) recurring training for your HazMat Employees.
If you are a business, then it is likely you are a HazMat Employer subject to the regulations of the US DOT.
Fines for non-compliance with training requirements begin at $450 per violation per day.
