The need and opportunity to innovate in defense has received much attention recently. Many companies with relevant, dual-use technology apply and participate in the various innovation programs that DoD offers. Some gain traction, but only a few find long-term ways to scale and compete in the market.
Join startup founder Jim Thompson as he shares his views and experiences in launching and growing a technology firm serving DoD customers. Jim will share lessons learned, opportunities, and pitfalls that any entrepreneur or company considering innovating in defense should avoid.
Jim Thompson is the Co-Founder of 202 Group LLC, a technology firm that provides supply chain illumination, risk analysis, and monitoring for public and private sector clients. 202 Group successfully prototyped, developed, and scaled its technology for DoD through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. It progressed from SBIR Phase I to III in less than 12 months, ultimately winning over $50 million in contracts with DoD over three years.
In October 2021, 202 Group was acquired by BlueVoyant, Inc., a venture-backed, pre-IPO Cybersecurity firm.
As a founder who successfully launched, scaled, and exited his business, Jim is passionate about helping other entrepreneurs overcome obstacles and win.
