This Event has Passed
Performed on the Phil Gallivan Stage at the Theatre Denton Annex inside the Golden Triangle Mall - near Dillard's.
This version of Towards Zero is the only play written by Agatha Christie under commission (to the Shuberts of New York). It only ran for one week in Martha's Vineyard in 1945. It was lost to time until rediscovered by Julius Green in 2015 as part of his research for the history of Christie's life. While the second version of the play (cowritten with Gerald Verner in 1951) is exceedingly more popular, Christie’s original is a far more ambitious and dramatic piece of writing.
Christie’s script follows her formula of plotting with a surprise outcome, but she paid special attention to characterization and motivation. Not only staged outdoors, the show delves deep into the psyche of its characters exploring thematically the notions of mortality, suicide, depression and even redemption.
