Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra with guest violist Roberto Diaz

Under the musical direction of Reuben Blundell, the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra presents a concert featuring guest artist, violist Roberto Díaz, president and CEO of the Curtis Institute of Music.

Join us to see why Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra’s audiences are growing, and why those with discerning tastes in music and high expectations are walking away from LSO concerts extremely impressed!

The afternoon opens with the “Overture” to Dame Ethel Smyth’s grand opera The Wreckers. The second work is the “Viola Concerto” by William Walton, one of Walton’s best-known works and features the soloist Roberto Díaz. The orchestra will conclude the afternoon with “Symphony No. 4 in E Minor” by the German composer and pianist Johannes Brahms.

A violist of international reputation, Roberto Díaz is former principal viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Mr. Díaz has already had a significant impact on American musical life and continues to do so in his dual roles as performer and educator. As a soloist, Mr. Díaz collaborates with leading conductors of our time on stages throughout the world.
