Dr. Tammy Gieselman at TUMC


Join us as we welcome Dr. Tammy Gieselman, elder of The United Methodist Church, for a special bicentennial sermon titled “Foxes, and Hens, and Chicks, Oh My!” Dr. Gieselman will explore the lessons and metaphors from Luke 13:31-35, connecting scripture to our congregation’s 200-year journey of faith and service. This special sermon is a part of Trinity United Methodist Church’s yearlong bicentennial celebration. The service is free to attend, and all are welcome. As always, Trinity will host a small reception after the service for visitors and members. About Dr. Gieselman: Dr. Tammy Gieselman is an ordained elder in The United Methodist Church. She currently serves on the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM), where she provides leadership for study abroad initiatives, the University Senate, and the North American Association of Methodist Schools Colleges and Universities (NAAMSCU). Prior to joining GBHEM in 2018, she spent ten years as University Chaplain and Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Evansville. Dr. Gieselman earned her Doctor of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary and Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University. Christian Worship and Liturgy, John Wesley and the People Called Methodists, Sacred Architecture, Living World Religions, Interfaith Leadership, and Religion in the Public Square. She has led continuing education study tours in Israel, England, and Spain, collaborated with religious partners across the globe, and in 2018 was invited to participate in the United Nations Together Campaign in New York City. She also served as the Director for a Lilly Endowment funded summer youth theology institute, Open Table, at the University of Evansville, after successfully writing a $545,107 grant proposal. Dr. Gieselman is married to Rev. Mitchell Gieselman, Superintendent for the South and Southwest Districts of the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church.
