SHOW LTU 2024 spotlights the future of architecture and design

SHOW LTU 2024 is an exhibition of graduating student and alumni works from Lawrence Technological University’s College of Architecture and Design. Focused on design, immersed in technology and grounded in practice, it will spotlight more than 150 original works by graduating students as well as work of alumni of LTU’s College of Architecture and Design (CoAD). This event represents a rare opportunity for students, alumni and the public to connect and consider what the future of architecture and design will look like. It is open to the public 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at Building 3, College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 West 10 Mile Road, Southfield, Mich. This year, SHOW LTU will include a special guest lecture and book signing by 2005 Pritzker Award-winning Architect Thom Mayne. Mayne is an internationally renowned architect and founder of Morphosis, a firm rooted in his philosophy of architecture as an ever-evolving and dynamic process. He is set to speak at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 as part of the opening Alumni & Industry Night festivities. SHOW LTU encapsulates LTU’s core philosophy of theory and practice by bringing new, original works to light. Participants of SHOW LTU 2024 have completed either a master’s degree in Architecture, or a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Game Design, Interior Design, Product/Industrial Design or Transportation Design. There will be a special selection of work from junior-level courses as well. Emily Bigelow - who is completing her master’s degree in architecture at LTU - will show her thesis work (pictured), titled “Building Biodiversity: Architectural Interventions for Mangrove Restoration and Community Engagement” in the May exhibition. “Participating in a public exhibition of capstone projects, especially with an industry and alumni night, is a pivotal experience that significantly prepares students for their future careers,” said Lilian Crum, associate dean of CoAD. “Having this opportunity to discuss their projects with notable industry members, graduating students gain a platform for learning, networking and professional development.”
