Sipping & Nipping: A Wine and Textured Mosaic Workshop with Michelle Sider

A lifelong artist and longtime instructor, Michelle Sider often travels the United States and abroad to study new techniques and teaches comprehensive workshops. For the first time, she’s pleased to present a 3-day workshop and retreat at her own expanded studio this summer. Sipping and Nipping: a Wine and Textured Mosaic Workshop combines learning a unique textured mosaic technique with an optional wine tasting experience, Aug. 23-25, in Huntington Woods, Michigan. Michelle Sider is a Michigan-based mixed media artist known for her lush, detailed mosaics and paintings. Her art explores global themes of identity, sense of place and spirituality. She is constantly seeking light amid the darkness. Often described as having an ethereal and dramatic quality, Sider’s works are characterized by her use of bold, imaginative colors and a sense of movement and flow. Her art is known to evoke strong emotions and her mosaics are developed using her painterly style, which creates more realism and detail in each finished product. Sider said it has been a longtime dream to have the ability to host personalized classes and workshops in her own studio. A recent renovation and expansion of the space makes it all possible. She will work personally with each student to determine the design, choose reference photos and materials, before bringing the group together to master intermediate techniques to create original, textured, 3D mosaic works. All materials are included. Tools will be provided for use during the workshop. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 23 to 25, with an hourlong break daily for lunch.
