Motor City Origins Tour

A “Motor City Origins Tour” on Friday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. will explore how The Motor City got its start in the Milwaukee Junction neighborhood, just east of the New Center, with automakers including Ford, but also Brush, Cadillac, Detroit Electric, Dodge, Hupp, Regal and others. This after-hours event at the museum includes a complimentary Happy Half-Hour and crostini bar, followed by a theater presentation on Detroit’s early automotive history. Guests will then enjoy a deep dive into the museum’s collection of rare antique vehicles all made in Milwaukee Junction just after the turn of the 20th century. Tickets are $30 per person or $25 for museum members. The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum is a U.S. National Historic Landmark and one of the oldest surviving automotive plants in the world. The museum is open year-round to the public, Wednesdays through Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $10 for students and youth. Optional guided tours take place daily at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Private group tours and school field trips are available on all days by appointment. The museum is also a popular destination for weddings and corporate events of all sizes. Proceeds from upcoming events support museum operations. For a complete event schedule or to purchase tickets, visit www.fordpiquetteplant.org. Event tickets are available at the door, but advance sales are requested to ensure catering supplies are adequate. For more information email [email protected] or call (313) 872-8759.
