The Adventures of the Abernathy Boys
In 1910, brothers “Bud” and “Temp” Abernathy, ages 6 and 10, made a solo journey on horseback from Fredericks, Oklahoma, to New York City, with the goal of meeting Theodore Roosevelt. They did, and became legends in the process. For the return trip, the boys drove a Brush Motor Car, made in Detroit.
The true tale of these peewee pioneers is the subject of a presentation by automotive historian, Jay Follis, on Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. at the Ford Piquette Plant Museum. "The Adventures of the Abernathy Boys" event is all for ages who enjoy a good story. Coffee and breakfast items will be served in the museum’s event space. Tickets are $20.
