Understanding dementia starts with understanding the person. On Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m., Jewish Senior Life’s Fleishman Residence (6710 W. Maple Rd West Bloomfield, MI 48322) is hosting a free community event with Debi Banooni, Director of the Brown Center and Certified PAC Trainer, for an educational talk introducing Teepa Snow’s GEM States, a compassionate approach to understanding dementia-related behaviors. Attendees will learn what a GEM State is, why it matters, how GEM States explain stages of brain change, and how understanding GEM States leads to more positive interactions. There will be a Q&A after the presentation. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Visit www.jslmi.org/memory-care or call 248-661-2999 to reserve your spot.
