Our monthly local music showcase continues with veteran folk singer/songwriter Mike Ward. These free, all-ages concerts are hosted after hours in the library’s program room. Ward performs lyrically-centric, vocally-charged folk songs recalling Jason Isbell and Bruce Springsteen. No registration is required.
These free, all-ages events are hosted after hours on Friday evenings in the library’s program room. The library normally closes at 6 pm on Fridays, but on March 10 and April 7, we reopen our doors at 7:30 to let in music fans for a fun show featuring a talented local artist/band.
Mike Ward creates and performs lyrically-centric, vocally-charged folk songs that tackle a wide range of earnest subject matter, sometimes dealing in matters of the heart and other times addressing matters of society, between joy and tragedy, love and loss, past, present and future. Living in Detroit, Mike grew up listening to Irish music and singing in choirs. A few of his influences are Jason Isbell, Nanci Griffith, Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and John Prine. Mike’s music can be sampled on his bandcamp at: psychosongs.bandcamp.com
