📷 Cranbrook Art Museum and Cranbrook Academy of Art will co-host Methodologies in Experimentation, a symposium on photography, pedagogy, and innovation since Carl Toth established the Photography department at the Academy by serving as Artist-in-Residence from 1972–2007.
🎤 Speakers include Academy alumni Akea Brionne (MFA Photography 2023), Clare Gatto (MFA Photography 2017), Kara Güt (MFA Photography 2016), Patrick Kelley (MFA Photography 1995), Julian J. Jones (MFA Photography 2022), Jova Lynn (MFA Photography 2017), Brittany Nelson (MFA Photography 2011), Sheida Soleimani (MFA Photography 2015), Qualeasha Wood (MFA Photography 2021), and others. Also included are Photography Artists-in-Residence Liz Cohen (2008-2017) and Chris Fraser (2020-present).
🏛️ The symposium will overview the Academy’s Photography department as a space for experimental practices – from early leadership by Carl Toth, to the culture fostered by Liz Cohen through the emerging methodologies led by current Artist-in-Residence Chris Fraser.
