Whether you’re a beginning artist or an experienced creative looking to sharpen your skills, this two-hour live model drawing session offers a rare chance to slow down, observe closely, and reconnect with the fundamentals of real, human-centered drawing. For centuries, artists have gathered in studios to sketch from live models. It is one of the oldest and most trusted methods for improving technique. Strengthening eye–hand coordination, deepening understanding of anatomy and proportion, and developing a sense of gesture, movement, and presence that photos simply can’t replicate. Drawing from life trains the artist’s eye to truly see and it unlocks skills that carry over into every style of art. In this workshop, you will experience a supportive, relaxed creative environment where you can explore and grow at your own pace. Sabra will guide the room with light instruction and observational prompts, helping you build confidence whether you’re brand-new to drawing or returning to your practice after time away. The atmosphere is encouraging, community-focused, and built around the idea that anyone can learn—and surprise themselves—when they show up with curiosity and a willingness to try. Many people attend live drawing sessions for stress relief, self-care, or to reconnect with their creativity. Location & How to Find Us The workshop takes place at the TEAD One Memorial Residency Studio, located inside The Connector, which is in the back of the Artspace City Hall campus in Dearborn, Michigan. There is ample free parking available near The Connector entrance. More detailed step-by-step directions will be emailed to all registered attendees to make arrival simple and stress-free. What to Bring Please bring a sketchbook or drawing pad and your preferred drawing materials—pencils, charcoal, pens, etc. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Seating and easels will be arranged to give everyone a clear view of the model.
