Detroit Promise Walk for Preeclampsia
The Detroit Promise Walk for PreeclampsiaTM supports the mission of the Preeclampsia Foundation as we improve the outcomes of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy by educating, supporting and engaging the community, improving healthcare practices, and finding a cure. Join us at Belle Isle Park - Cricket Field to raise awareness, honor those affected, walk in memory of loved ones, and make connections with others. Speakers will share how their lives were impacted by preeclampsia. A MOMMAs Voice representative will discuss what preeclampsia is and the symptoms to be aware of. Two Wayne State University College of Nursing faculty will demonstrate the proper method for taking our blood pressure. We will join as a community in a 1.4-mile walk. There will be a raffle of an autographed Detroit Tigers pitcher, Ty Madden, picture donated by the Detroit Tigers. Together, we will fill the air with bubbles in honor of those whose lives have been impacted by preeclampsia and in loving memory of those whose lives were lost to this devastating condition. There will be facepainting, music, games, beverages, snacks, gift card give aways, and most importantly, community. Note: Belle Isle Park requires volunteers and participants to adhere to the Recreation Passport Policy. A recreation passport can be obtained at the Secretary of State (when renewing your license plate), at the park booth on the day of the event or in advance at the park administrative office during regular business hours (M-F/8AM-4:30PM).
