Jazz on the Ave

Avenue Community Services presents the Annual Jazz on the Ave Customer Appreciation Day Festival to empower, enrich, and elevate businesses on the Historic Avenue of Fashion, America’s Largest Black Business District. DETROIT, MI - The annual Jazz on the Ave Customer Appreciation Day Festival will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, on Livernois Avenue between 8 Mile Rd and W McNichols Rd between the hours of 11 AM and 7 PM. Jazz on the Ave is an annual event held on the Historic Avenue of Fashion that uses the historic corridor as a stage to celebrate and uplift Black and local businesses, entrepreneurs, and artists who speak to the cultural legacy of the city of Detroit, and to promote economic empowerment. This year’s festival will feature the Livernois Classic Car Gathering, fashion shows, live performances by local artists such as Lord Yancyy and Deblon Jackson, family activities, specialty vendors, entertainment by Fast Freddy, and new to the event this year is a parade powered in part by our very own Detroit Parade Company. This year, the event also welcomes organizations and programs such as Urban City Cowboy, the Charles H. Wright Museum, and Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s, Detroit Harmony. *Check out the event map and schedule on our website for more information on happenings during Jazz on the Ave! Jazz on the Ave is more than just a musical event; it is a celebration of our community’s heritage and a demonstration of support for black-owned businesses. The event aims to foster a sense of community, boost traffic to the corridor, and highlight the economic contributions of these businesses to the Historic Livernois Avenue of Fashion, America’s Largest Black Business District. Jazz on the Ave is free to the public and festival-goers can register ahead of time to enjoy special discounts from select participating businesses.
