About the Author:
Marcie Maxfield is a critically acclaimed writer known for infusing humor and wit into subjects not typically considered funny. Her memoir JewGirl is a 2026 Foreword INDIES finalist in Women’s Studies and Humor, and her debut novel, Em’s Awful Good Fortune (She Writes Press), won multiple awards, including the Independent Press Award for Contemporary Novel. Her play, Girls Together Always, won the ENCORE! Producer’s Award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Originally from Detroit, she is now based in Southern California.
Her work is fierce, feminist, authentic, and deeply personal. Her memoir, JewGirl, is a collection of essays exploring identity, girlhood, and women’s experiences through candid storytelling and cultural insight.
Originally from Detroit and now based in Southern California, Maxfield has also lived in Europe and Asia.
