Both lectures will explore, “A Vatican Astronomer’s View of Galileo," and Br. Guy’s background as a Jesuit scientist. Examine how Galileo's work challenged, and was challenged by, the science of the day; and how it was shaped by the personal ambitions of the main players in the Church, the political world, and the philosophers of the day.
The event will begin with a brunch at 10:00am followed by Br. Guy’s lecture at 12:00pm. The lecture will include a Q&A session, meet-and-greet, and a show in the Acheson Planetarium. The brunch is exclusive to Institute of Science members.
