Collage Concert is Detroit Dance Collective’s annual dance performance celebrating collaboration, community, and the power of movement to connect. Now in its 46th season, Detroit Dance Collective is the longest-running professional modern dance company in Detroit and continues its legacy of innovative, thought-provoking artistry. This dynamic program features repertory and in-progress works by Detroit Dance Collective alongside a special guest performance by tap artist Shanzell Page and appearances by regional youth dance groups. Designed as a layered “collage” of choreographic voices and styles, the concert offers audiences a range of perspectives, generations, and movement languages within one shared performance space. Guest artist Shanzell Page will present an original solo tap work drawn from her ongoing artistic practice, exploring how rhythm carries meaning through lineage, structure, and lived experience. Engaging tap as a form of cultural knowledge, her work honors tradition while embracing contemporary expression. The Sunday matinee will also highlight youth performers from across the region. As part of Detroit Dance Collective’s commitment to education and mentorship, participating youth dancers take part in a masterclass led by DDC artists prior to the performance, offering a rare opportunity to engage with professional artists and the creative process.
