You're invited to meet the Iowa DNR's Avian Ecologist Anna Buckardt Thomas Tuesday, July 16, 6:45pm, at The Des Moines Izaak Walton League, 4343 George Flagg Parkway! (Park Avenue and George Flagg, across from Jethro’s). You'll learn about her work doing research that can be put into practice to help Iowa’s bird populations and protecting bird habitat! Birds populations in Iowa have been declining because of development and habitat loss. In Iowa we have one of the lowest percentages of public land in the nation, leading to the need to protect open spaces that furnish habitat. Buckardt Thomas doubled majored in wildlife ecology and management and applied ecology and environmental science at Michigan Technological University. She succeeded Bruce Ehresman, who retired in early 2018 after being the state’s top bird expert for more than 30 years. Admission to Anna's talk if FREE and Open to the Public, with a Steak Fajita dinner available for purchase, service at 6.
