With the season opening October 25 you'll want to be sure to get up to speed by joining Todd Bogenschutz, Iowa Department of Natural Resources Upland Wildlife Research Biologist, Tuesday, October 7, 6:45pm at the Des Moines Izaak Walton League! 4343 George Flagg Pkwy (Geo. Flagg & Park), Des Moines, 50321. Todd will talk about pheasant population trends and the outlook for this year's hunt. “Last year was a decent year for pheasant hunting. 2023 was a good year for pheasant hunting. This year could be excellent,” he said. The Iowa DNR and Pheasants Forever are also celebrating 100 years of pheasant hunting in the Hawkeye State. The first season was held Oct. 20-22, 1925, when 13 counties in north central Iowa were opened to pheasant hunting. Admission to Todd's talk is FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, with a WALLEYE dinner at 6 available for purchase.
