The Golden Eagle Concert Band, under the direction of Mike Snell, Director, and Assistant Director Bob Tucker, will offer a Comedy-themed Concert entitled “April Fools!” on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2:00pm in the sanctuary of Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, 7530 W 38th Avenue in Wheat Ridge. No ticket is required; donations will be accepted at the door.
This concert will feature many surprises, including comedic concert band repertoire by P.D.Q. Bach as well as some interesting “instrumental” combinations that will get your toes tapping and face laughing! Relive the joyful childhood sounds of banging on pots and pans in your mom’s kitchen. Watch a clarinetist perform a challenging solo with a twist. There will be musical surprises to bring a smile to all. Come be an “April Fool” with us on April 1st!
The Golden Eagle Concert Band (GECB) is a 60-piece all-volunteer adult community band, consisting of men and women of all ages and backgrounds. The GECB is active throughout the Denver metropolitan area and Colorado, specializing in American band music from the turn of the 20th century through the 1940s, by composers such as John Phillip Sousa, Karl King, Jerome Kern, George & Ira Gershwin, George M. Cohan, and others of that era. The band has recently added to its repertoire music composed for concert band by 21st-century contemporary artists. The organization is a full-fledged concert band, including brass, reed and percussion instruments. The GECB plays concerts for the general public, nursing homes, hospitals, festivals, 4th of July celebrations, churches, and private organizations.
